Our pets

First there was Slick, a male canary, he belonged to Donna. When we started living together we had an apartment in Ravenna, OH; an apartment that did not allow pets, but it was pretty easy hiding the fact we had a bird. LOL!

Donna started working at the Portage Animal Protective League (PAPL) taking care of the animals, specifically cats. One day I came home from work and there was this, cute, soft, long-haired, grey and white cat; that the PAPL named "Gandalf" because his colorings were similiar to the famous wizard from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and... well... hell! Got to keep the cat, where else is he going to go?

A month or so went by and here comes along Kaiya and yup we kept here too. Another month later... Elaine pops up into the apartment. Well let me say, one bird and three cats is a bit much to "hide" but we did it! For several months we kept the fact that we had animals unknown to the apartment complex manager as well as the other tennants. Damn! We're good. LMAO!

We had to leave Ravenna and move to Jackson Township, just outside of Massillon, OH

Our pets came with us and seemed to settle into the new environment quite well.

Slick

Slick

A couple years after we moved into the house in Jackson Twp. Slick died. :-(
We miss him, he was a cheerful little guy who could sing some pretty songs. I wish that I had connected a mic to his cage and recorded his songs as well as his quirks.

Gandalf

Gandalf

Mr Lover! LOL Gandalf is a very affectionate male cat. His name was attributed to his coat; "Gandalf the Grey." His temperment is very mild; gets along well with all the other animals. And he loves to sit on your lap, and lay on the pillow in bed too.

Kaiya

Kaiya

A domestic longhair and a poser too!

Kaiya doesn't mind a camera, at times I think she thinks she's a model. LOL! Kaiya was found laying on the road by the Magadore Reservoir; apparently thrown out of a moving vehicle, she had severe injuries and it took some time before she was ably to be adopted out of the PAPL. When she's on her back she likes to twist her spine; her head facing one direction and her feet face the opposite. I suppose that offers her some relief of possible arthritis.

Elaine

Elaine

Elaine is the mother hen. She wants to take care of us and the other cats too. She is similar to a Norwegian Forest Cat; her coat is a reversed Tuxedo in it's coloring. She's very sweet and mild-mannered. Her meow does not "fit" her muscular body, it's a bit high in pitch and soft, not loud. But if Max get too close to her and she doesn't want him around her growl is completely opposite, you'd think there's a lion in the room!

Sammie

Sammie

Sammie; short for "Sam I Am" was a stray. He was dropped off in front of the house across the street. The problem about that is that no one lives there now, it's vacant. As the weather got colder and poor kitty out there alone and hungry, we started feeding him outside. Then the weather was getting real cold, frigid, so we coaxed him to come indoors. He's really a nice cat, doesn't bug the girls too much, but he is in heat so we let him out sometimes at night so he can "cool off." Getting him neutered with Max is on the list. Sammie is a vocal cat and what's interesting is that he sounds like he's saying "hellooo." You really have to hear him to believe it; maybe we'll get him recorded sometime and post the audio.

Max

Max

Max is short for Maximus, thename given to him by his original owners. He responds to it very well so we never changed it. As you can see, Max is a Labrador Retriever, all black and full of energetic fun and love. He's a really good dog, well, still a pup since he is 10 months old, born around Easter of 2007. He's house-broken, good around children and the cats too. Poor Max tries to make friends with the kitties and they want to hiss and scratch; they'll come around though, it will just take some time for them to accept him.
